Fundamentals of Bathing

You must provide your infant with a dab bath till their:

  • The fall of an umbilical cord that is from one to four weeks.
  • The healing of the circumcision one to two weeks.
  • The complete healing of the naval that is from one to four weeks.

Bathing for 2-3 times in a week for the 1st year is satisfactory. Bathing very often would cause dry skin of the baby.

You would require the following things as soon as you start bathing the baby:

  • A spongy, fresh cloth for wash.
  • Gentle, fragrance free baby shampoo and soap.
  • A gentle comb to rouse the infants scalp.
  • Blanket or the towel.
  • A baby tub full of lukewarm- not burning! – Water (to check the temperature of the water dip your wrist or the elbow). A baby tub is the artificial tub which can easily be fitted on the bath tub and thus makes the time of the bath simple.
  • A fresh diaper.
  • Fresh clothes.

Dab baths: for the dab bath, choose a temperate room and a level surface, table of change, flooring or contradict. Strip your infant form the shirt to the diaper. Clean your infant’s eyes by a fresh cloth damp in just the water, begin with the first eye and clean from internal corner to external corner. Take a fresh corner to clean the second eye. Wipe your infant’s ears and the nose with the clothes of wash. Then damp the cloth one more, and by the use of the soap, bathe the face lightly and tap it parched. Bath in the tubs: strip your infant and put it in water straight away to avoid cold. With your one arm hold the head of the infant and with the second one hold its feet. By having soft talking, lower the rest of the infant in the tub. By the use of the cloth of wash bathe its hair and face at first. Softly bathe the scalp of the baby by the pad of the finger or with a gentle comb of the baby, involving the parts of the fontanels on head. When the bath is done, cover your infant with the towel including its head. Towels of baby by hood is good to keep the recently bathe baby temperate.

While giving a bath to your baby, never ever leave the infant unaccompanied.
